i love these boxes from ikea. super affordable yet they look nice. and they come in a variety of sizes and colors!!

i found this organizer at michael's on clearance for $3.99!! it's perfect for storing all those little odds and ends.

nursery projects

i've been working on our nursery for a while now and thought i would share a few smaller projects with you.
this is the crib bumper. i couldn't find bedding that i liked so i went for it and made my own. for my first time i really like how it turned out!

i grabbed this knob at the hardware store for less than $2. i wanted it white though. a few coats of spray paint fixed that.

i nailed a nail into the wall, put some glue in the back of the knob, and put the knob over the nail. quick, easy, perfect!

i got the idea for this piece of art HERE. so simple, yet so sweet! i love it!!

pizzookies

i know i'm not doing anyone a favor by sharing so many delicious dessert recipes right before summer, but seriously! these are too good not to share. i got the recipe HERE and changed it up just a bit.

they are supposed to be cooked in ramekins, but i didn't have any of those so i tried them in cupcake liners. worked well enough for me. they sunk in the middle after i took them out of the oven, but they were delicious!!

p.s.-i ate these as i watched the biggest loser, lol! oh well :)

tutorial
here is what my planter looked like before.

spray paint your planter in whatever color you choose. i used krylon semi-gloss white.

hanging picture rod

I first shared this tutorial on Blue Cricket Design last week, but thought I would share it again in case any of you missed it!

I saw something similar to this a few years ago and when I found an extra curtain rod hanging around my house I figured this would be the perfect use for it. I've loved it ever since. Such a lovely way to display your favorite photos!

supplies
-two 4x6 picture frames
-three 5x7 picture frames
-black paint
-sponge brush
-sand paper
-ribbon
-scissors
-staple gun
-curtain rod
-vine with berries

tutorial
First, paint all your frames black with a sponge brush.

After the paint has dried, use your sand paper to gently sand the edges of your picture frames.

They should look similar to this.

Next, cut your ribbon. I wanted my pictures to hang at different lengths so I cut 5 different lengths: 10", 13", 14", 21" and 22".

Fold each piece of ribbon in half so it makes a loop.

Use your staple gun to attach one piece of ribbon to each frame. Make sure to staple it in the middle so it will hang straight on your rod.

Attach your curtain rod to the wall according to its instructions.

Place the frames on the rod where you want them.

Carefully wrap your berry vine around your rod. It is helpful if you use a vine with wire in it. You can then wrap it tightly so it stays in place.

Enjoy!

hair flowers

can you believe i had never made a hair flower before yesterday. i'm not sure why i waited so long, but it was really easy and fast so i'm sure i'll be making more soon! one in every color probably :)

supplies
fabric
tulle
sewing needle
thread
bobby pin
candle
match
scissors

tutorial
cut various size circles from your fabric and tulle. i used 3 fabric circles and 2 tulle circles.

using the flame on your candle carefully singe the fabric edges.

layer your fabric and tulle circles however you'd like and simply stitch a few stitches through all layers.

i wanted my flower to be simple, so i didn't add anything in the center of my flower. however, the possibilities are endless. button, bead, bow, etc..

finally, i just hot glued my flower onto a bobby pin. headbands sometimes slide around too much for me, so i thought i would try this. we'll see how i like it.

lovely.

first saturday soiree party this saturday, may 22nd!!
