Christmas Decoration Ideas

the time has finally come!! time to share my Christmas 2010 decorating ideas with you!!

like i said a few weeks ago, all things glittery and sparkly are totally in this year for the holidays!

i love the look when it's done in a classy way, so here is my take on a glittery, classy Christmas!

the large glass vase i got at a recent garage sale
{my friend actually went back and got it for me cuz i didn't have $2 cash lol! who goes to a garage sale with no cash?!}

the small square vase in the left corner is also something i already had. i used it back at mothers day too!!

the ornaments are from my collection i already had. i believe most are from the dollar store last year.

the jar with the candy canes is actually an old candle. i just cleaned out the old wax and she was as good as new!

ribbon is from michaels

the little reindeer tag is from HERE

this white vase has been sitting in my garage for quiet some time now. i bought it at a dime auction for 10 cents!! totally worth that one little dime, haha! i didn't know what i would do with it at the time, but im so glad i grabbed it! a few coats of white spray paint and a coat of glitter later, she is beaut-i-ful!!

the white berries are from michaels, on sale for only 99 cents each!!

the gray tray is from kohls i believe. i bought it for my master bedroom, but it worked perfectly here!

the candle sticks on the right are from home goods. i spotted them a while ago and knew they would be perfect for Christmas, but also year round! i debated putting something on top, but in the end i loved how they looked on their own!

the noel frame was my first attempt with a silhouette!! no, sadly i don't own one...but my friend was soo kind and let me borrow it for a day! she is brave, i tell ya! i had a ton of things in mind but only got to this one. love how it turned out though!

the frame was just one i had laying around the house. again, a little spray paint and glitter and she was ready to go!

i got this candle stand at my local good will store. i used it for my halloween decor too and i know it will continue to get used year round!

the candle is one i had. i just added some pretty tinsel glitter!

i just spray painted another frame i had laying around and printed out my subway art for this cute little piece of art.

the red Christmas tree is from the dollar store last year.

the little frame i also already had. i think my mom got it for me last year?! i just printed out a cute little monogram and stuck it in there, a simple little personal touch.

the candle stick on the left is from home goods also. the glass jar is one i had...maybe from my wedding?! lol, not sure... and the ornaments are an assortment of ones i had and a few more from michaels.

all the greenery is from micheals too.

over by my entry way i decided to go with green and silver...

the mirror is from target.

the wreath i made from a wire hanger, hot glue, thread, and lots of $1 ornament packs from target.

the glass jars i had around the house and the green ornaments are also an assortment of what i already had plus some new ones from michaels.

the bells and green berry/stick/bead thingys {lol} are from micheals also.

and the silver Christmas tree is from the dollar store last year.

this cute little guy is from my mom. last year she gave me quite a few decorations she didn't want any more. they are being put to good use, that's for sure...more to come on that later!

here is what this little guy used looked like
{before a little spray paint and glitter of course!}

before                                                   after

so there you have it!!

cheddar chicken chowder

a couple days ago I posted about the nautical birthday party i hosted, and mentioned that we had bread bowls and soup...

someone had asked for the chowder recipe, so here it is for those of you who would like to try it out!!
Cheddar Chicken Chowder
2 slices bacon
1 pound boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into bite sized pieces
1 cup onion, chopped
1 cup red bell pepper, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 1/2 cups chicken broth
1 3/4 cup red potatoes, peeled, diced
2 1/4 cups frozen whole kernel corn
1/2 cup all purpose flour
2 cups 2% lowfat milk
3/4 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
Cook bacon in large pot over medium-high heat until crisp. Remove
bacon from pot, crumble and set aside. Add chicken, onion, bell pepper
and garlic to drippings in pot; saute 5 minutes. Add broth and potato,
bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes or until
potato is tender; add corn. Lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cup
and level with knife. Place flour in a bowl. Grdually add milk,
stirring with a whisk until blended; add to soup. Bring to a boil over
medium-high heat. Reduce to medium heat and simmer 15 minutes or until
thick, stirring frequently. Stir in cheddar cheese, salt and pepper.
Top with crumbled bacon.
